This Alexander Valley Merlot has a dark ruby color. The abundant aromas of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry and plum are abundant-due to the dry, sunny vintage-without any herbaceousness or green notes. The new French and Hungarian oak barrels lend notes of espresso, dark chocolate and cinnamon. The long ripening and drier condition led to a Merlot with rich, ripe fruit and a plush mouthfeel.

The 2008 Alias California Cabernet Sauvignon presents darker berries on the nose, but the flavors are surprisingly bright with blueberries, ripe strawberries, and subtle spice on the palate, The toasted oak character sits in the background allowing the spotlight to be on the fruit. Tannins are soft but structured, and there is a nice acidity.
